Educational shows
Since the group's beginnings in 2010, the quartet tours schools to present an interactive show and presentation created for middle and high school students. Each year, QW4RTZ performs 100 shows for thousands of teenagers across Canada.
Few are aware, but these school shows started in the very early years of QW4RTZ. Martin Larocque, former stage director of the group and renowned speaker, convinced the four singers that they could have a positive impact on teenagers by sharing their own personal experiences of adolescence. The original format of these school shows featured the four members of QW4RTZ taking on the roles of big brothers, presenting four different experiences based loosely on true stories.
"What we want, in a certain way, is to talk to the young men that we were back then. Without ever preaching, we want to tell this promising next generation that—despite the hardships of an otherwise wonderful time of their lives—we’ve learned valuable lessons from our teenage years that are still so relevant today". - QW4RTZ
Through humor and personal stories, the singers share their experiences from high school. But obviously, QW4RTZ wouldn’t be QW4RTZ without a cappella singing! The skits are therefore interspersed with pop songs that teenagers recognize and enjoy.
It is now common for QW4RTZ to meet young men and women who were deeply inspired by QW4RTZ’s visit when they were in high school. These young adults have shared how QW4RTZ’s message helped them overcome a difficult moment in their lives; a message of kinship, respect, perseverance, and hope.
This activity is also available in a virtual formula.
